Silence is the presence of connection

What would you say if I invited you to a social gathering where it’s guaranteed that there will be many long moments of silence despite having 12 people in the room.

I know, right? It’s not very appealing.

What about if I tell you: in those long, silent moments - magic happens. Preceded by natter-banter-chitchat, all of a sudden as if by magic, everyone falls into silence with a single-minded focus on their stitches. Insert hook, yarn over, pull up, yarn over again, pull through both loops. The outside world stops. Even the Tai Chi group next door is impressed.

Housework, bills, relationship issues, work arguments - everything takes a back seat and we all take an opportunity to pause, rest and heal. We connect by the vibration of creation and channel our energy into this weird craft of creating fabric from loops of yarn.

Until someone cracks a joke and the cycle starts again till the next wave of creative tranquility.

`Silence is the absence of intentional sound` - the dictionary states and I would add, in the crochet world: silence is the presence of connection.
