Unrealistic expectations

What is this unrealistic need in most of us to want to succeed - at once. Right now.

In something we just started literally a minute ago. If not, it is a failure.

We understand that a baby needs time to learn how to walk. A toddler needs time to learn how to speak. A child needs time to learn how to read.

But when it comes to grown-ups - there is no time given for development. No mercy.

`My very first crochet stitch needs to be perfect.` No, it doesn’t. `My very first crochet row needs to be straight.` No, it doesn’t. `My very first crochet item needs to be functional.` No it doesn’t.

I can ensure you that no crochet stitch goes to waste. All of them - the scruffy, the loose, the tight, the abandoned, the overkilled, and the overloved one - all add up in your secret crochet skill storage in your brain and in your fingers only to manifest into a masterpiece one day. No rush. Time is irrelevant in the crochet world. Unless it’s 24th December.

You just need to turn up and the rest will be taken care of.
